Reflections on Returning

One of the things I remember from my childhood is how I used to try to dodge school.  In the morning I'd claim to have a pain in my head, hoping my mother would sympathize with my (fake) situation and give me a day off. (I still try it sometimes, but thats not very often. lol) Still when I go to school sometimes, I see little children with tear-stained eyes, being dragged into the nursery section. This can be heartbreaking.

Now, I couldn't even think of missing a day at school , not for any reason. If I'm unprepared for a test and decide to skip a day, there is so much more I could miss. Over in this part of the India, many students attend coaching classes and home tutoring as well as school (I don't see the sense). So if they didn't understand their lessons at school, they can understand it later. In fact, the best students of our class are the ones who work themselves. I don't attend any such classes, and I don't wish to either (no offence intended) . So missing a day in losing on a lot to me.

Now that my 52 days of fun have now come to an end, but its just the start of others!  The time differences in the world can be so irritating at times! Some blogs post titles are like 'Reflections on Retiring' (for the vacations, I mean) and mine is 'Reflections of Returning'*sobs*.

  5. wellllll I used to put the thermometer near the heater and then tell her that I have a high temperature... it worked sometimes... others she just touched me and said let me measure your temperature and she'd stay near me till the shocking healing! a miracle! :-)
Well maybe the new start is a new adventure, who knows! Try to enjoy it as much as you can!

  6. I always hated school when I was younger, but now I long for just TIME to learn :) Being a mom doesn't allow much time for learning so I wish I would have taken education a little more serously when I had the time to learn :)

  9. Oh Mel I love your writing style.
And you know I certainly understand the feeling when vacations are about to end and yet you don't want them to. It's a dual feeling, you want the schools to start and you don't want the vacations to end (with me it is). Well I hope you have a good session! :)

And you know what, I hate how little kids are forced into school too! :/

  10. I try and dodge work every now and again, but I just feel lazy and my conscience gets the better of me!!

I too despise the time difference in blogging-land, it is the middle of winter here, I'm sitting here freezing with a hot chocolate to warm me up... and everyone else is bragging about their holidays!!

  12. Schools here are about to break up for the summer holidays - but I just got back from my trip. I prefer to travel outside of the school holiday periods anyway!

  14. I was not a big fan of missing school! Coaching classes after school are a norm in India, but I am totally against it. I completed school(and college)all on my own..I would love to go back to school anyday..Just that they dont let 25 year olds into the classrooms (unless you are a teacher ;)) Enjoy your life at school !

  19. It does seem as though summer goes by more quickly than the seasons during which we are in school. Even though I am homeschooled there were a few moments of my education in which I considered the holding the thermometer up to the lightbulb trick but it wouldn't have worked since my mom's a nurse! =)

  20. hahaha love ur writing! and i totally agree with the tuition part!there seriously is no use if u only concentrate in class. A lot of brilliant students in my class take tuitions too and then sometimes i get the feeling that they have an upper hand on me.. but in the end like my mom always says its gotta be indpendent study :)
